Enjoyed the weekend with friends Klenger (Ken and Janet)!

WHO'S INTERESTED!! I'll be planning for a quick outing the late part of February for those interested. We want to get out and enjoy one final run to one of the great AZ state parks before they close. Candidates are Roper Lake, Picacho Peak, or one yet to be noted.

If you're interested please respond.

Tks,

Olan

Olan: Are the State Parks closing in Arizona? Or just a seasonal thing?, we are coming through the state towards the last of Feb., was planning to do the South Rim Rail tour but looks like the weather/road conditions might be better if we take a more southerly route, two or three days lazing in the sun with friendly people sounds awful inviting, still open?

Olan,

Would like to join the group, but we will be just returning from a land tour of Copper Canyon at that time.  Trying to get out of the cold and snow.

Due to the terrible state of AZ budget and the ignorance of the state legislature continuing to raid the state park fees/budget the parks are scheduled to close. The plan is to close a few in March with the others staggered. 9 will remain open and 13 will close. See the details at http://azstateparks.com/index.html

The south rim is part of the national park system and so far won't be affected by the state park closures. The weather (as you stated) isn't cooperating, but we need the snow pack to keep the lakes full and to provide all of the water for the people of AZ.

Take care,

Olan

We could do Picacho in March when the Civil War Reenactment occurs.  That would probably be fun.
