Well, what was a good trip and a great Fathers Day turned bad... Went into a parking lot to get dinner, but had to make a tight turn and the 4runner ended up hitting the ladder and pushed it into the body of the trailer.  I have a '00 Nash 22h, so my understanding is that it is Aluminum not Filon.  I did a search and found a lot of items on repairing filon, but not on Aluminum.  Any help is appreciated.

thanks.  the ladder shoudn't be too hard to fix, but i have no idea when it comes to the aluminum.

lesson learned though... no sharp turns while pulling doubles...

THIS I do know - that black rubber strip hides the screws holding the corners down.  There should be a way to "simply replace" the aluminum strips that have all the dents and bruises.

I would call Matt at Northwood (1-800-RON-NASH), get his email address (sorry, I don't have it) - send those pics and some others, and he can tell you how to take it apart and have you count up the number of panels you need, etc., and get them replaced.

And, remember the Rally is this week.  So, he will be running his tail off!!

Good luck.

I can't give you any advice on how to fix it yourself but this might help.  When I put the Bronco into the front of my old TT while executing a fast-backup-jackknife turn, my insurance company, State Farm, waived the deductible because MY vehicle hit MY trailer.  So the RV place fixed it for free.  Give them a call and see if that works.

Hey, Bigfoot!!  That is pretty kewl!!  Now, MOST insurance companies would just charge you DOUBLE on the deductible because you had two of your vehicles involved!!!!:?

Aluminum is easier to fix than filon--take the bad off, put the good on.  The hard part is when your insurance company increases your premium!

No repair as such to the existing aluminum. It's too thin to do anything with. Has to come off and be replaced with a new piece. It is an easy fix. Don't know if it a DIY project, though...that is up to you.

called Matt this morning.  He gave me his email address and i sent him copies of the pics i took.  He is going to let me know what i need to do to fix it.

Edit - within 10 min of me sending the email, he was calling me back letting me know the costs of the panels and ladder and letting me know the best/cheapest way to get it.  i am really impressed with them (especially for the first time calling them)

thanks everyone for your help.
Rob

This can be a DIY fix if you wish. The aluminum panels interlock like vinyl siding. Good thing the damage is on the lower end of the trailer. If it was at the top, all of the panels below the damage would have to come off. The panels are stapled to the framing where they over lap. Looks like you're only into it two panels and a ladder. If you remove the end caps (screws under the black rubber) you should be able to get a good look at how things go together. You shouldn't have to take the caps all the way off. Just enough to get the lower panels out.

thanks DB, thats what Matt said.  $225 + shipping for both panels and the ladder... not as costly as i was thinking it was going to be.
