gps. ??..... Bring what you like... If you do not have one, and seriously have not looked, you might wait until after the rally... Shotgun likes to be gellin with Magellan, and I like the Garmin.. To be honest, I encourage people to purchase what their friends have, that way it is easier to help each other..
I will have 10 basic Garmin Etrex units at the rally for very basic training...
**** If **** you bring your own, and want us to assist you, please bring the instruction manual. And as we have found in the past, there are many others who are gps friendly and more that willing to help. For those who have never used one, we are very patient and will gladly do the intro..

Hey you can count Bubba (my mini-snauzer), I, and (maybe) my new wife Judy in. I'm shooting for Thursday but it may be Friday for arriving.
I look forward to seeing everyone again after missing last year.

| Hi from Bill, Mary, & Snickers, the Sheltie in Gig Harbor, WA. We attended in 2005, but couldn't make it last year and missed you all. We're really looking forward to this year's event! Knitting! Wine-tasting! Wheel-thingie Packing! The excitement is building! Ideas were requested and here's a couple we had - perhaps a small craft boutique? Might take a year or two of planning to get it off the ground, but a lot of us are crafters - quilting, painting, crocheting, wood-working, pottery, writing, etc. Another idea might be an informal lawn dance one evening. We all bring CD's to share, or perhaps we have some musicians in the audience??? If there is interest in this, Bill and I would be willing to teach a few basic dances.

I have heard of rain dances, but never lawn dances. Is this to make it grow faster or slower????
I think what Hot Lakes needs is a mosquito dance..........

Well I have another real busy day ahead of me but just wanted to echo what shotgun said about the mosquitoes. This RV park is surrounded by marshes and even though they treat the area there are lots of those hungry suckers out there so bring lots of repellent.

Are their any good places to fish nearby? Lakes preferred, but streams and rivers would do nicely Last edited on Tue Jun 5th, 2007 21:35 by daviddes

| Answered this in your other post about ATVing around La Grande. There are many places to drown worms around La Grande. Are they good? Well any day drowning worms beats the alternative, so it is all good.....

Here is the Rally activities list again, don't forget to check below for what items based on your name you are to bring to Friday eve. potluck.
Directions from La Grande:
Exit #265 off of highway 84 by flying J station
At the stop sign at the bottom of the exit ramp turn right(south) onto 203 for 5-7 miles. RV Park is on right down short gravel road.
Contact them directly to make arrangement for a site and let them know you are part of the Northwood Gathering.
All activities are open to all attending members who are interested. Simple put if you ladies want to learn how to pack wheel bearing I think that is great!
Schedule Of Events:
Thursday:
11:00 Factory tour meet in the Northwood office 10:45
1:00 Hands on wheel bearing and brake adjusting clinic at the campground next to the community building on actually axles. Plan on getting a little greasy and dress accordingly!
3:00 Factory tour meet in the Northwood office 2:45
3:00 Hands on wheel bearing and brake adjusting clinic at the campground next to the community building on actually axles. Plan on getting a little greasy and dress accordingly!
Through out the day will be a share your modifications with each other and we can discuss them around the campfire that evening.
7pm: Unofficial meet and greet around the campfire.
Friday:
11:00 Factory Tour meet at the Northwood office @ 10:45am
We will meet in the Northwood factory office at 12:15 for the following Q&A sessions

1:30: Suburban Rep to give talk on the care and operation of your water heater & furnace with Question and answer time.
2:30: Q&A session in the PDI building on the general care of your trailer.
5:30pm Meet and greet social time under the big top.
6:15 pm Potluck Dinner
Everyone will bring an offering for dinner to share with the group. If you have any portable tables please bring them to set the food on. There usually will be around 40-50 people attending (remember that each dish does not have to feed 50, maybe 12 or so). Depending on the first letter of your last name, please bring the following items:
A-H: Vegetable Dish; Come on now, not just a can of corn, what does your imagination have to offer?
I-R: Main Course Dish; What fantastic thing can you come up with?
S-V: Salads/Fruits; Something in a bowl maybe? Whatever suits your fancy!
W-Z: Breads; Bring your favorite bread, roll, pastry or just something interesting to share.
7:30pm Campsite judging. Yep, you got it; we are going to decorate our rigs & campsite prior to Friday night again this year. You will have to come up with your own theme, but lets just see who can out do whom? 7'ish we will walk around the park as a group and everyone will have a chance to vote for their favorite decorations. (PLEASE, no mass voting for your own campsite!)
8:00pm Bake Off We are going to have a friendly "Bake Off" to see who can make the best camp desert! We will judge by popular vote who gets the "Golden Spoon" award for this year!
Saturday:
9:30am: Introduction to GPS and Geocaching. Bob & Tom will teach an informative class on GPS basics followed by an introduction to Geocaching (http://www.geocaching.com/This is a great family activity, and also a great way to learn how to use your GPS’
11:00am Crochet/Knitting class with Donna. This will be in the community building at the RV Park. If you have needles/hooks and thread bring them. I have a huge collection of patterns, which you can have copies made from. I will bring different kinds of yarn and thread as well.
1pm: Ron Nash's & crew will be hosting a BBQ as well as a drawing with gifts given away. Everyone will receive something, last year they gave away t-shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, Fantastic Fans, Max Air Vent covers, a BBQ, inverters, and lots more,
5'ish Bob will be hosting a wine class- details are still in the works, but will follow shortly.
Saturday eve: Movie "RV" Thanks to Bob for providing the projector/screen and DVD player
Sunday Morning: Potluck breakfast 8am, while this maybe early for some of you, many attendees have to get an early start to head home.

FYI,
For those who want to do a preseaon scout of this area, go to Google Earth and install it, when take a FLY OVER of the area, The GPS reading given were right on the money for Hot Lakes, (at the time of this picture, there ere 16+ rv's parked there), I also found Thunder RV and I think I found Northwood Factory next to the airport? Having never been there this info was very usefull for me.
The aerial photo's are very accurate, I can see my truck parked in front of the house. Try it, it will surprize you on what you can see. Lon and Lat info is at the very bottom on the left side of the picture, and the elevation info is on the right corner. Plus there is lots of other tools to use if needed. Very usefull for those of us that like to prowl the back woods.

Linda, I don't think I'll have them in time, the better half & son are in Calif dealing with some paper work for the house we are selling, I am attempting to have the house sold, get the new Ford 4x4 and DF TH trailer and retire on or before the 1st of Aug,07 in that order. I am to recieve a 2- 4% raise in July which will count towards my retire fund, it is the only reason I am waiting that long.
I keep getting this little gremin popping up and throwing a monkey wrench into the my best laid plans, I am thinking of throwing him a hand gernade with the pin pulled! if he don't BACK UP and regroup, I am getting awfull short tempered with him lately.
If I can get away to head to La Grande, I'll just bring the little Tonka truck and a tent and travel lite, and my ridin partner, Bud Bear is giving me the evil eye every time I head for the truck, he KNOWS something is a brewing.

Ok just put the finishing touches on our name badges( I will take this opportunity now to pre-apologies for any errors that may come to light on spelling of names) and got them ready to print, reserved the popcorn machine & popcorn for our evening movie and received the 30 Dexter axle service guides for the wheel bearing class. The # of people who wish to do the wheel bearings has exceeded the # of axles we are getting from northwood to practice on so we will have to improvise a little but it should be fine.
Only 14 more days to go!!!

Hey Sheriff Adam,
Just how will WE find you when we get to the rally? Are you going to have a Big Lighted Blimp with a pointy arrow, Showing the way,"Start here" . and be parked in spot #1, Never been to one of these get together before, kinda a lone wolf so to speak. Are we on the right side as we enter the rv park?
I know you have a NEW WHite DODGE pu, I guess we can just look at the license plates and see which one match up to the rooster? After all You are our LEADER! and we have to find you. Do we just check in with the gate keeper? Inguiring OLD minds want to know???
Do I have to wear one of those NAME BADGES???????????? I am kinda shy about things like this, someone might find out who I am???? You best have ALL YOUR SWORN Deputies wearing their name plates, as I wouldn't want to get cross threaded with one when we meet face to face!!!!!!!! I'am a packin my bag and gettin ready.
TIA

I will be in space #29 and never hard to find , just hard to keep up with! Ya after all the work I put into the name badges we all have to wear them at first. Now if I can just get unwound I need to go to bed as I need my strength for rowing mrs.Adam 50 miles down the river this weekend and its not so much rowing down and its dodging the rocks. Now if for some reason I don't make it back Sunday you all know what to do .......right?

Deputy Fox
I don't think so , an unarmed citizen is just a victum of a crime that has not occured YET! I promise that I will be on my best behavior, as the better half will NOT bail me out, regardless the situation, and I believe in respecting the laws of all states. Now, how would that look to my boss, haven't retired yet and in the slammer again, 12 years behind the fence is enought for me! I know what my boss would say, "Keep him there, throw away the key ."
