| Just got handed my yearly vacation schedule and was "ordered" to fill it out, NOW!! (How long before I retire so that I can tell them where to file that paperwork ????). I missed last years and I fully regret it. Since I am coming from Miami, and the DW won't be able to accompany me (she's in school) , I'll have to fly over and tent camp or do the hotel thing. I hope that is acceptable. It is not cost effective to tow 6,000 miles round trip just for me although I'd do it in a heartbeat if it were not for the fuel cost. Well I just need to block out some time in the work schedule. Thanks. Joe.

The rally is always the Wednesday following fathers day. Which would make it Wednesday June 23rd - Sunday June 27th.

| Thanks Adam: I really want to go even if I can't bring my rig this time. Joe.

Last year I thought I might be the first DF owner to attend, but that fell through when my employer threatened to downsize me, which they eventually did in July.
I no longer have the DF, and just today hauled home a 2010 AF 811 TC.
If I make it in 2010, will I be the first truck camper to show up?

| Can I be the first member to arrive with a "tent" ???? I have a air conditioned, canvas wall tent that I was thinking of bringing in a rental car, last year. A little silly I guess, but the older I get, it seems the less I care what others think. I promise that I will sew an "Arctic Fox" logo on the roof. I'm sure someone will think that it was an option from the new "True North" unit. LOL Joe.

Sorry but I have already had the tenter, and the hotel people come to the rally. Of course you would be the first to attend with a air condition Northwood tent! Actually the park has a really nice tent area back in the trees right behind the rally building.

| Ree hee heelly: I did not know that about the lovely tent camping area. I checked out the hotel rates last year and either I'm living in a time warp or the prices and fees have gotten really expensive. I had waited too long for plane reservations and it was almost cheaper to rent a car and drive to the rally. I would have brought the small a/c unit and the tent. Tent camping is no big deal but sleeping in an outdoor sauna is not my idea of fun, hence the air conditioner. Thank you Adam for expanding my options. If I go plane, no tent. If I go rental car, yes tent. I wonder if the Northwood crowd is the rowdy type?? You know, the type that like to hang out until all hours of the night. Does the tent area have electricity or is it primitive???? And what is the name of the park??? Is it the same every year? Joe.

OK, watching this go along, and staying quiet..... That is until the ROWDY question.... simple answer..... NO.... NODA.... FRIGGING RETIREMENT NEIGHBORHOOD......
We always leave after work on either Wednesday or Thursday, pull into the park between 10 and midnight, and the fire is always down to embers, and NO ONE is around to share the first drink of the evening for the wayward Shotgun crew to share the evening with..... I mean, this crew is about as old as our grandparents as far as bedtime is concerned.... The highlight of the week is the wine tasting party as far as partying goes.......
And the AC, well I would not be concerned with that, it aways cools off enough for a comfortable evening sleep, and the rest of the afternoon's are consumed with the activities that are going on. Plan on bringing the golf clubs as this year we will be doing the golf tournament again...
All that said, we have enjoyed the rally for the last 25 years (seems like that long anyway, and for Adam about 50 years) and are once again planning on attending this year....
Hope you make it, it is always more fun than I am portraying..... And the food, well all we can say is..... SO LONG DIET..... Step up to the table and enjoy.....
Looking forward to seeing you this summer, enjoy your trip!!!!!!!!!!!

| Shotgun: With an invitation like that, how can I refuse!!!! I don't know if you meant for your post to be funny or not, but I can't stop laughing as type this reply!!! I love it when something makes me laugh out loud even if there is no one around. Just so you know, I have submitted my request schedule for the time off so I'll know if it is approved in about a month. Looking forward to meeting you folks and hopefully seeing the new 29-L up close and personal. My plans will probably be a flight into Portland, OR. and a rental car to a motel in the closest town. preferably one with a hot tub, I love to soak my aching joints. (I think I've said too much) I should be able to get a ticket for about $200.00 round trip if I book early enough. Any chance away from the stress of Miami life is a good time. I also really want to tour the plant! That kind of stuff is really interesting to me. Well, thanks for the information. Joe.

I guess I have been quiet around here for too long, anyone that knows me knows that my posts tend to track a little bit of humor.

| Good suggestion Doug, also look into the possibility of flying into Pendleton, Oregon , Walla Walla , Washington or Pasco, Washington. All of these are a lot closer but I don't know how it might compare fare wise. I know Pasco and Walla Walla both offer rental cars right at the airport but not sure about Pendleton.
