Vsop and I were chatting about a possible AFNASH Rally at the Jackson Rancheria in 2010. If you are interested in One, please let us know. The next time I am at Jackson, I will get the rates and availability dates and go from there.
Things you can do other than Gambling are:
1. Wine Tasting, Fishing and Golf at many sites within 30 miles
2. Drive up Hwy 88 and Check out all the various mountain lakes
3. Lake Tahoe within 96 miles
4. Shop at the smal stores in Jackson, Amador City, Sutter Creek, Angels Camp and many other smal towns.
This not have to be large Rally, it would be fun just to visit and meet members and put a face to the post. Even if we only have about 10 trailers, that would be great.
If we do have a rally, would anyone like work with me on the planning and coodination of of activities? I live in Sacramento, so if there are any members close by, we can spend a weekend in Jackson or over coffee to discuss your ideas.
Here a link to the Jackson Rancheria RV Park so that you can see what it has to offer.

| Am going up to Jackson Rancheria RV Park Monday (Feb. 1) for four days. We go up there often as it is close. Am interested if the timing is right. Think I saw your rig there once but we didn't meet. Nels.

Great Idea Tom!! count us in if the rally is later in the year, say October or November, April-May is great there but we will be far away in North Carolina this year. But lets work on it, it's open for suggestions, lets hear from all the California/Nevada Northwood owners, what would work for you??

| Perhaps you should check on available spaces for club functions during 2010. I belong to the Hangtown RV Club which reserved two 2010 club outings with the super club room at Jackson and have one additionally reserved for 2011. The Jackson Rancheria RV Park is one of our favorite spots and we would be delighted to join an AF/Nash group at Jackson.

I would be interested if the timing works and would help in the planning. I think I met kimshew there last spring. We like Jackson Rancheria and use it as a starting point for trips in the winter since the trailer is stored in Jackson.

This sounds interesting. Meeting other highly intelligent people who bought northwood product sounds good. My only question is do they have big fire pits at the campsite as I need a big fire when I camp. Maybe my friend the high roller will join us. There's a big casino in Oroville I'd like to camp at too. I'm not a gambler but would rent a fishing boat. I could probably provide a few abalone if there was a rally at salt point state park maybe even van damme although I don't know where to go in the water at van damme. What about monterey/santa cruz area is there a good place to camp there. How about southlake Tahoe in the summer or quincy area. I would be intersted in the names of the campgrounds that are best in these areas and networking with other northwood owners sounds interesting. I could save some gas money if there was a rally at Sugar loaf state park. Although i'm new to TT camping so this is all just ideas.

Hello Princess, there are some differences between "resort camping" and the "no frills" tye of camping many of us generally prefer, so, if you like to fish, forage, hunt or generally be closer to nature, a rally in a resort may seem a little strange but you will get used to the luxury of it and actually learn to enjoy it on occasion.
I think you have some good ideas that should be explored but for the first trial get together the Rancheria provides a nice centrally located place to gather and get to know some of our NorthWood compatriots, then afterward we may want to continue the effort and incorporate other ideas.
I think Tom will check out the facilities and see what attractions and facilities they have, I have "camped" there once and know there aren't individual campfire rings, there is a BBQ area, spa, swimming pool, clubroom etc., it is a Good Sam park as well.

Lets keep this thread alive and make it happen.

I am at Jackson Right now and will be here until Monday. I checked with management, with ten rigs, the rate will be @25.00.
Jim, oops I though the name was Tim, I guess I called you Tim on the PM. The clubhouse is pretty much booked, but depending on when we have the event, we will know for sure.
Princess: As Vsop indicates this is not dry camping, it is more of Resort RV Park, like Oroville KOA, but larger and has two spas and a pool. No open fires, but they allow a propane fire pit, which I have.
I gave up on dry camping and enjoy just a very nice clean RV park.
Tom
Let keep this post going and let see if there are any others out there that would be interested, probably around Sept or Oct, if that does not work, I will work for something in the Spring of 2011.
If I can not get 10 rigs, maybe we can have a small get together of those who are interested.
Kimshew, hopefully I will see you here tomorrow before I check, I am planning to stay long enough to say hello, so I asked for a late check out

| As long as I can spray lighter fluid on your propane firepit when my wife isn't looking I'm good with that.

Have been thinking about this very thing for some time, so we are definately in !!
This park is a real class act, and there are unlimited things to do in the surrounding area...big time wine tasting, golf, nature, gold panning, site seeing, old town shops, etc, etc, etc..and of course the casino for those who care to indulge.
Sept/Oct would be good months.
I am in to help organize and setup.
Who else do we have ??

Heh where do I go fishing up there. I don't much like plunkin in a lake for trout. Are there any mountain streams/rivers. The hens and bucks will be travelling out of the reservoirs to spawn that time of year. Also how much do those lpg firepits cost I think I needs to modify one so the flames lick atleast three feet high. Of course I'll only be able to run it a short while as I only have 14 gallons of lpg . I've got a spare five gallons . Visitin angels camp sounds real good but I'm not sure if I should wear my summer or winter cowboy hat in september in gold country. You say you like red well I know this place that sells the finest half gallon bottles from france, with a screw top, award winning, @ $16 a gallon. I'll bring some to get things rollin of course I'll be waking early to fish so I probably won't embide. Weathers gonna be so nice that time of year I might sleep in a tent just to protest all that luxury an' gentriflication.

Well Princess, In October when fall is in the crisp morning air, the ripe pumpkins are lying in the fields, the farmers are putting up hay for the winter, the mountain streams are scarcely flowing and the trout are lying deep in the cool depths of the alpine lakes waiting for the winter dormancy, fishermen clean and oil their rods and reels, carefully dry and wind the lines to store for the spring runs, the old folks hook up their rv's and head south for the winter hibernation. But, before the first snow flies some prepare for the flight south by gathering together and sit around little bits of warmth from tiny campfires like many generations of natives have done from time memorial, remembering good hunts, good friends and future plans. The time for huge campfires, imbibing, dancing with orgiastic fervor to loud music is when the sap rises in the spring, the streams flow from the melting snow, the lazy hatchery trout lie in the deep quiet pools waiting for strength to brave the upstream rapids, its there and then that you can fill your creel with fat lazy fish, or head for the high country to tempt the hungry brooks with meticulously wound flies that you created during the winter doldrums.
But all of that aside Princess, Just what is the purpose of having a rally? IMHO, it is enjoying the fruits of our labors, gathering together with others who enjoy meeting like minded folks, imbibing a little and generally not working hard at anything, some scurry around fighting gentrification and some who prefer to just lie in the warm sun and accept it, in the end the aim is to enjoy life, have fun, and go home relaxed and eager to repeat the adventure as many times as possible.

You wax so eloquently dear sir. Might I mention wife reads this thread too and does not approve of orgiastic fervor out of wed lock even in the spring. She is very conservative and judgemental of such people. I on the other hand embrace diversity and have a great respect for the natives and their small fires and stealthy ways. I was full of awe and jealousy when a young native man I was familiar with showed me his two chest scars and described the flight and how he chose to dance. I did have the rare opportunity to spearfish with natives a few years ago and they did embrace life with orgiastic fervor in the fall salmon run, or whats left of it. Alas I come from a cultural heritage that involves throwing telephone poles to impress royalty. A cold thrifty heritage that has pushed me towards large fires.
If it's scheduled for october it doesn't much matter but there are two lakes nearby, amador and pardee both +-30 minutes. Also there is a big reservoir at angels camp 1 hr away. I'll put on my wetsuit and fins and swim out into the lake if it's october and if it's september I'll put on a shortie and bring my sea kayak and some bait, someone told me wound fly was good bait.
May you fly often and dance like noone is looking.

Good idea, vsop! Things were getting a little off topic. It would be a first for me to have to chide posters on this particular topic!
