HELP US CREATE A DATABASE THAT EXPLORES THE SAFETY AND RELIABILITY OF THE NUMEROUS BRANDS OF TT AND LT TIRES THAT ARE AVAILABLE TODAY. SIMPLY FIND YOUR BRAND AND TYPE BELOW AND VOTE ACCORDINGLY. IF YOUR BRAND IS NOT LISTED, USE THE REPLY BUTTON TO ADD YOUR BRAND AND YOUR VOTE. YOUR BRAND AND VOTE WILL THEN BE ADDED TO THE LIST BELOW AND YOUR REPLY DELETED.
QUESTION: OUT OF THE 4 TIRES THAT ARE NOW OR WERE MOUNTED ON YOUR TT OVER THE PAST FIVE YEARS, HOW MANY TIRE FAILURES (FOR ANY REASON) OCCURRED? YOU MAY VOTE ONCE FOR EACH SET OF TIRES USED OVER THE PAST FIVE YEARS.

Brand: Goodyear Marathon, (2nd set on trailer since new)
Failures: None
I do have 1 tire that appears to have skidded on one spot and now the tread is bulging there. Drove 400 miles on it this past weekend and tried to get a new tire in Flagstaff, but there weren't any Goodyear Marathons to be had. Put the 6 year old spare on it to drive home.

Nanking 15" ST, Brand spanking new, 2 blow outs, in less than 60 days, 1 at 600+ miles and the second blowout at 1200+ miles, the rest taken off and Les Schawb 15" tires on, we'll see.
All tires were checked at every fuel stop and were at rated air capacity and were towed on pavement only. Don.

Tow Master 205/75/15C Made in Canada and New Zealand
0 failures (does a flat count as a failure or do you mean a catastrophic failure like a blow out or a tire coming apart?) Did have a flat once. Discovered it one morning and changed the tire and had the flat repaired. Not sure if running over a nail or a screw is concidered a failure of the tire? Especially if you caught it before running on it and it flew to pieces?
Close to 20,000 miles, over 1000 off the pavement. I carry two spares and check the air pressure pretty much every day I travel. Visual check when I stop, usually touch tires and hubs at each stop.

Goodyear Marathon ( made in USA) ST 205/75R15 load range C, no failures in the last five years.
Tires are inflated to 50 psi cold and are loaded to about 80% of rating with our normal gear aboard the trailer. Mileage is probably less than 10,000 miles total (we have never had the trailer out of Washington State.)
Since the trailer manufacture (March 2002) there have been two flats, both more than five years ago.
The first must have happened during transportation from the factory to the dealer. During our first look at the trailer we found that the spare had a chrome trim ring on it (and one of the wheels on the ground had no trim ring) and a big chalk marked "X" on the tread where a plug repair had been done. We asked that the dealer install a spare tire which had not had any repair done to it which was done.
The second flat occurred sitting in the driveway after about a 15 mile trip home following delivery from the dealer. This was caused by a hex headed sheet metal screw that I'm certain was picked up at the factory or at the dealer's shop. The dealer (no longer a Northwood dealer) refused to replace that tire and it was plug repaired and installed in the spare position where it is today.

The factory installs (or has installed) a variety of brands. My 2000 model came from the factory with Goodyear Marathons and my 2005 model came with Deltas. I know that they also installed Maxxis at one time.

Brand: Super Trailer
Size: ST235/80R16E
Failure 1: Flat tire sometime before delivery to Antlers RV (Jan ’07). Antlers had the tire repaired, but they said it didn’t need balancing; I think it’s the same tire I had repaired yesterday and it required 3.5 oz weights to balance.
Failure 2: Flat tire noticed the day before yesterday. Called Good Sam ERS who sent a guy out the next day to mount the spare; no charge. I like their service.
Took the tire to Discount Tire in town for repair; they found a nail in the middle of the tread, fixed and balanced it, AT NO CHARGE! WOW!!!!!!
