Hello all, we are new owners of an AF990... actually won't be built and picked up until April so I'm doing our "planning" now.
We will initially be needing to pay for storage for our camper until be can get a storage building built on our land for the camper & other toys (HMO requirements). Our camper will have a solar panel installed. Since the storage facility won't have electrical hookups where I'm thinking of storing it, I'd like to use the solar panel to keep the batteries topped off. Would also like to keep the camper covered with an ADCO type of cover for protection over the next few years. Obviously the cover would negate the ability to use the solar panel as described.
My question is: Has anyone already addressed such a problem? Perhaps having a canvas shop install a clear panel over the cover would be a solution? With the ADCO being breathable, would it matter if a little mousture made it through the seams required to install such a panel?
The sharp edges of a solar panel would probably tear an Adco cover over time. As such, I'd probably opt to put some padding between the solar and the cover to keep the cover from getting shredded, and possibly take the batteries out and keep them at home while the AF is at the storage lot... in fact, propane and batteries ought to be kept at home anyway since they are targets for theft.
