Currently the owner of an AF811 and looking for more room for us and toys. Looking at DF 21SW and 305J or 28. Truck is not an issue. I know, 2 opposite ends of the spectrum. It appears to me there is actually more room in the 21 for ATV's than the 30 or 28. Also, the front bathroom seems to be an issue with my wife. Just her and I btw. I don't suppose anyone has experienced these 2 rigs and can provide any feedback?

We have an 02 KS28 Desert Fox it will fit 2 Sportsmans if the drawer next to the frige is removed and handle taken off from the sink side door.
A Sportie and Predator no problem, it will take one RZR with the dinette seat down.

I can get my 400 Arctic cat up between the sink and fridge. Then my grizzly behind it sideways and still have plenty of room for one or two more samller quads behind it. I've even got 4 road bikes in there all at one time (without the quads of course).
Love the front bedroom/bath. When we have guests with us, it's kind of like our own room without imposing on anyone else. I'd go for the 28ks if you want to haul stuff in the bed of the truck, or the 305j if you want the 5th wheel.

Me.... I've been thinking of making the opposite switch....
21SW to 811....
21SW is nice because it's smaller size is easier to get in and out of the smaller spaces I like to go.
BUT, for two people, you really will want the electric beds so you don't have to climb a ladder to get in / out of bed.
Front bath is nice and roomy.
I have only hauled bikes in mine.
I don't have an onboard generator, and me personally, I prefer a portable one to eliminate the noise and vibration of one that is built in.
Mine is an 03, bought it new, been to WA, OR, ID, MT, WY.

| I have a 21sw for just my wife and I. We love it! There is one problem though, be it ever so minor. We have to unload the quads everynight if we want to go to bed. Sounds minor but after driving or working all day, sometimes it would just be nice to go right to bed without the additional work. We have plenty of room for the quads without any modifications to the Fox, and we do feel we have enough room for two.

We have the 24AS it is the smallest one they make with the front queen. We have only had it a month or so but we like it for the most part. It is nice not having to worry about dropping the beds to sleep and is still fairly small, only 3 feet longer than the 21SW. It fits my sons mini quad and our Sportsman and we have the bed open. We had a 27ft Tahoe FW for a while but I really missed having the bed. But they are heavy.
Personally I'd really like to have a camper as I think I can get into more places with it, but wife vetoed that idea.

My issue with the 24AS is it appears to have the smallest area for ATV's. And I have 2 of the largest, Polaris Sportsman. In addition, it also appears the sofa must be flat for the beds to come down.
How is the 28 in the wind? Sure seems it would be all over the road with all that sidewall. Of course the 21SW could be just as bad.

If you have the right hitch, wind is no biggie The 28ks is tall, wide, long and HEAVY, so you will need enough truck to do the job correctly, but once that's taken care of, it's a very nice ride.

What type of hitch would you recommend? F350 diesel dually, with air bags, so that should be more than adequate.

The hitch on the truck itself should be fine, I'm talking more of the weight distribution hitch. i use the Equal-I-Zer 1400/14000 WD hitch. It was a HUGE difference over the EZ Lift and 2 friction swaybars I use to use.
You will need the 1400/14000# because the trailer is very heavy and very tongue heavy.

| I have a 21SW that I would not trade for anything. But if you want room I would look for a 27 5th. More room and will pull gentler than the 24. Over all length wont be any longer total length than mine. I know because my frien just bought one. I agree with Equalizer Hitches. I wanted one but mine came with another and the anti sway bar is a headache and doestnt work that well.

We fit three ATVs in our 28KS. One turned sideways and the other two are side by side. This way we still have access to the fridge. We sometimes take the 14' boat and the kids bikes in the trailer.

We have Ranger, King Quad, little quad and dirtbike in ours with the back of the truck left empty except for boat on rack. Just got back from 9 day trip and it sure did work well with all the water cap and black/grey tank capacities. The builtin genny is handy too for the hot days when you need a quick cooloff.
The family concludes the DF 28 suits us better than the cramped AF 860 camper we had before the DF. I sure do miss the mobility getting into the tighter sites tho.
Cheers

| We have the 305J and love it I can get the four quads in my sig in the back and still have access to the the kitchen, front bedroom, fridge and bathroom. All four of us lived in it on vacation for 2 weeks in Yellowstone. We have boondocked for as long as a week in the dunes. Fully loaded for the week we weighed in at 10,500# with 2500# of pin weight for a total of 12,500#. Watch out for some of the shorter ones if you lower the beds in the back you cant have the dinette open fully. Last edited on Sun Jul 19th, 2009 23:42 by tjar66

We have decided on the 21SW. Wanted to keep it small for maneuverability. If you can call 25 feet long maneuverable, compared to a truck camper. Picking up from Nelsons RV in Boise on Thursday, along with the 1200/12000 lb. Equal-i-zer hitch. Really looking forward to the extra room. Thanks for all the responses.
