Hi,
Does anyone have a good fix for the ramp door. The trailer is so high that the
angle on the ramp door causes the bikes to bottom out. Any help here would
be appreciated. Thanks

| My only suggestion would be to back your truck up onto ramps or blocks or something under the rear tires, that would cause the rear or your trailer to sit lower resulting in less of an incline for your ramp. Good luck.

This comes from no personal experience on this problem but I did see another brand toy hauler using this.
He put two automotive type wheel ramps down and lower his trailer ramp onto the tops of the wheel ramps. Then he drove his bike up the combination. It seemed to work for that guy.

Sounds like a possibility but most auto ramps that I know of have ribbed sides thus you couldn't ride up the middle. The last thing I want is for that 800 pounds to start leaning with no foot hold on either side....Yikes! .
I thought about adding about a 12 inch length to the existing ramp feet then adding a fold-able ramp, 4x4 sheet of 3/4 plywood, something, on a piano hinge and attaching it to the existing ramp. Sounds good in theory? Wonder if anyones tried it before?

I cut 4x4s in 6" and 12" lengths. I place them under the door 'feet' to get the angle of the door up, depending on how much lift I need. Then, ditch those little ramps that came with the trailer and go buy a 6' tri-fold aluminum ramp. You'll be able to load anything then.

Thanks for the info. I since have went with my original concept and added two 12" galv. pipe extensions with screw-on flanges as feet which screw into the factory rubber bumpers and are secure, bought the tri-fold 6' ramp and added plywood to it. I also added 3, 3/8" studs to the interior of the ramp door and drilled the fold-able ramp so when placed on the factory ramp it's locked in and won't slip off. It's secured with wing-nuts. Hopefully I'll get some pictures up soon. Although a little awkward to set up, it works well. I sure hope Northwood comes up with a modification for this. Why not make it easy to load all toys, it would broaden the buyers market? Thanks again for your reply.

Sounds interesting. As long as it works then it's all good. It only took me one trip to figure out the stock setup was not going to work. Then it was a progression of trial and error to get where I'm at now. I've loaded everything from my sportbikes to full dressed cruisers, 4-wheelers to side by sides in mine and my setup seems to work well. So far my biggest load has been 4 road bikes in the 28ks One in the kitchen, 3 in the back.
How are you securing your bikes? I've got removable Pingle wheel chocks with many many tiedowns in the floor. I'm pretty well set on my setup, but always looking for a better 'mouse trap'

Bonediggley,
I have Pro-Bike removable chocks and added 3 more 6K tie-downs in the floor a little forward of the stock ones. My chocks have a provision to strap the front tire to the chock then I use two straps forward and two straps in the back. Believe me, they don't move and I've been on some bumpy roads, I95 in SC comes to mind as well as the Capital Beltway around D.C. . I sure would be interested in seeing your 4 bike set up. I've hauled 3, one in the front kitchen as well. I take it they're not all baggers? Speaking HD, I could possibly see squeezing 3 sporty's in the rear with a crow bar maybe . I love the 28ks but want a 30-5j and am actively seeking a clean used one. The trouble is here on the east coast there aren't many dealers so there aren't many Fox's around from what I see. I was told they are sold mainly west of the Mississippi. Too bad, great units compared to some others and I've had a few. I'll keep searchig anyway and maybe something will turn up. I'm not opposed to traveling the distance to get one it would just have to be priced right cause the cost to pick it up and get it home is soooooo expensive .
OH WELL........................

Desert Fox's are hard to find here too. My closest dealer is in Austin, which is 150 miles away. I did look at trading over to the 30-5j too, but other than going from the pull behind to 5er, I couldn't see any other advantage, at least not for the $$.
When I had the 4 bikes in the trailer, they were 'skinny' bikes: Suzuki SV650 (in the kitchen), Ninja 1100, Ducati 996 and Suzuki bandit 1200 all in the back. They all made it the 1000 mile trip to Colorado without any problems.
I have had one HD Soft tail up front, a Yamaha Roadstar and Yamaha V-max in the back before too, not to mention 3 4-wheelers at times. It's just my overall carry machine. I have pictures of all this on my home computer, when I get a chance I'll post some pictures of it.

| Sounds good. I've carried a RoadKing up front with the StreetGlide and SoftTail Deluxe in the rear. My wife likes the bedroom better in the 30-5j and I'm told they are easier to pull. I know it doesn't warrant trading up for a new one so hoping we can find a reasonably priced and clean used one possibly '06 through '08.
