Hi - In 2004 I bought a 2004 Arctic Fox 26X. My wife and I (and our son and dog) used it as a second home. More accurately, my wife, dog and I. My son probably slept in it less than 10 nights. All in all in the 5 years, we used it for 138 nights. The only time that it was pulled was for yearly maintanence. Except for a few carpet stains that had been a result of the dog being puppy (which we of course cleaned without delay), the trailer interior is in very good condition. We are non-smokers.
The exterior has been kept up by roof cleanings 2 times a year along with exterior washings. There had been maintanence issues in the beginning (mainly window leaks) but were taken care of in a timely manner. The last time it was used was the Columbus Day weekend in 2008. Being situated where we are, outdoor conditions do not seem to wear down the finish of anything left there. Our 6 year old electric meter looks brand new. The deck we put up lest year on our house still maintains a close to new pressure-treated wood finish.
The trailer though fantastic is being sold because my wife and i no longer see a need for it - either now or in the near future. The land that it was being used on was a 5 acre property in which we had a small campsite constructed along with a shed bathroom. We knew at some point a house would go up here and would become our permanent address at some future point. Well, last year we put up our small home and use that as our new second home. With our son now away in college and having his own life, we have all that we need to get away on our lovely property up on a dirt road on a hillside.
I thought that I might use the trailer so this past summer I kept the RV for one last season to see if it would be used. I hadn't used it at all - except to have Dish Network install my 2nd TV - even then I did not use it for even one night.
If you or anyone you know is interested in a good RV - I'd like to let you know that it is at Danas RV in Woodsville NH. The number there is 603-638-2200. The dealership is run by Steve and Janette Dana. Steve pulled the trailer to his dealership last week. I do not feel comfortable discussing price as Steve knows what I am looking for. I believe it would be a win-win for all concerned. If I was looking for a heavy duty rig (over 3000 lbs carrying capacity - 10500 total weight), I would give this a serious look. I believe it is priced right considering the history and the construction - one of their last trailer series to use wood frame construction.
Just wanted to pass this information along.
