| On another forum, a member posted pictures of the factory closed and locked up during the week when he wanted to make a visit. Anybody have any information on this? With the economy like it is, perhaps the factory shut down for a few days or even weeks. Sure hope they are not shut down for good!

| Don't panic the La Grande factory is not closed down. They do run a different schedule to control cost, so best to call ahead before heading over. Now if you are referring to the east coast plant then yes it is closed down and has been for quite a while. You can read about it here. Last edited on Thu Oct 16th, 2008 23:23 by Adam

The factory in La Grande is in a temporary shut down--we were at Thunder RV yesterday. I think this is the third week of this situation.

Oh man I forgot all about hunting season...Yes they are closed for hunting season and are not impressed if you plan something during this time that would bring them out of the mountains!

Yes I posted a couple of exterior photos with the others a couple of days ago. Scroll down about 3/4 of the way. Guess I should of posted them separately or posted a separate message. Guess I can do that now.

| I stopped at the Silver City, New Mexico AF Dealer last week to look around and he mentioned that the factory is on a 4 day work week currently due to the slow down. I have not heard or seen that anywhere else so I'm not sure about this info.

Maybe they can get a Bailout. Oh, that's right. They build a quality product and pay their people an honest wage. What was I thinking?

When I called Northwood a few days ago, the phone was answered and Cody was put on. That's when I asked him about the rim size on the 22H. When I asked him how things were going he said they could use some orders.
But the surprise was when I asked him if they were looking down the road towards smaller TVs and TTs. He said they had built a small TT about the size of a VW. It was a hard side and had a stove that hung on the outside. Sounded like one of those tear-drop TTs we read about.
So, they are hanging in there and would appreciate your order. For a big TT, not the VW size.

I talked to Matt recently and there was a line running. I think it is kind of a start-stop situation for the moment.

I stopped by yesterday to say Hi and Mr. Nash says they had a good couple of weeks. He showed me his order sheet and it looks like quite a few dealers are ordering some inventory. I asked if he had any AF29L around I could see and he said they had some at different stages in the plant. So he took me out there and turned me loose as he had to get back to the office to make some calls. Just told me to lock the door when I was done looking around! Well you got to know I could of spent all day out there! So much to look at, they had several lines going and all at different stages so you know I just had to see how they put things together! Of course during that hour I spent out there I got all kinds of new ideas even got to see the new AF36-5V. Wife really liked it but I had to inform her it was out of our price range but I think she wants me to get a second job......
Another thing I saw was it looked like they where using that Eternabond on the front cap to roof seal, don't quote me on this as I am not sure but that is what the stuff looked like.

They fixed our friend's camper with Eternabond--which didn't stick--found it out when they were almost to Mexico. It was used at the front of the rubber roof I think.

Adam: So what was your impression of the new 29-L??? How did you and the DW like it? I showed my DW the floor plan and she loved it! I am saving my pennies for what I believe is my next coach. I would also love it if Mr. Nash has the standard build sheet and possibly a list of any "non-published" options like up-graded axels or maybe a ten qubic foot refriderator. Thanks Joe.

Thanks Adam: I picked the first Fox and I haven't yet stopped hearing about the DW thinks that "It is all laid out wrong". This time the DW picked the trailer floor plan that she loves and I happen to agree. Wait until I tell her that the 29-L even has room for her mother!! And to stay on the thread, I don't care if gas gets to ten dollars a gallon, as long as Northwood stays on line, I will tow an Arctic Fox. Best built trailer for the money. Joe.

I really hate they closed the Plant in Winchester, Va. They were super nice to me. The Northwood line just never went well here on the east coast, few dealers would carry them. I read somewhere that Northwood would rather build smaller TT as they sell better on the west coast and larger TT and fifth wheels sell better on the east coast. We have looked at a replacement for our 33-5V but not found a floor plan we like as well or if we did it was not built as well.

Tom have you checked your area for a Northwood dealer. Talking to Matt yesterday and he stated that there east coast orders have been increasing since the closing of Fleetwood. In case the dealer locater is not up todate since this all happened maybe a call to the factor might be in order. Just a thought.
