| Dodge makes it, Cummins shakes it! Our 1997 Dodge CTD was enough truck for our 1996 Nash 26J, but we were over the trucks GVWR and the GCWR of 16K pounds with the Fox. Love the new truck--see signature. Last edited on Tue Dec 23rd, 2003 19:35 by foxyrvlady

Currently driving a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 V-10 QC 4x4 LWB with the 3.55 rears plus camper and tow packs - at the time this setup gave more fifth wheel trailer towing capacity (GCWR) than even a CTD 3500 from that same model year.
The truck is rated for 8800 GVWR and 19000 GCWR thanks to the 315 HP and 450 lb-ft of torque from the 8.0 liter V-10 and 3500-class frame, brakes, and suspension - about the only thing I'm missing is the heavier axles found in the 3500's.
For what it's worth I've since upgraded the shocks to adjustable Rancho RSX9000's for better control over the ride with and without the trailer (an AF 31W) in tow. I've also replaced the factory original steering control damper, which made a huge difference in straight-line tracking, especially under load.
Will eventually move to a Dodge 3500 QC 4x4 HO CTD LWB SRW, but I really love the V-10 and it's been a great truck. To be honest I'd like to wait until there's a factory option (or at least factory-approved dealer installed option) for a Jake brake - that's supposed to be on the way and may already be out there. I also need a Class V hitch (it's unclear whether or not Reese has a Titan model for installation on the new hydroformed steel frames). And while I'm dreaming, I'd really really really want a true crew cab (I've heard rumors that there may be one in the works to compete with similar models from GM and Ford). If I'm going to spend $45K I might as well get everything I want, eh?

Just wanted to jump in. If you are feeling a little whimpy, I am feeling a little over-loaded. Gonna' get on those scales pretty quickly here, and see just how much!!
'96 Ford F250 PowerStroke Diesel. 4door crew cab, with plenty of room. Short bed. Chipped it with Superchip - wow!! kicks b*tt. Changed out the exhaust. The OEM exhaust should be original equipment for a mini-van. Does not belong on a diesel, for crying in the bucket!
THIS FORUM ROCKS!!! I am so proud to be a part. Class Act, you guys!

| Signature completion- 2003 Patriot Blue QC SB SO Cummins Dodgem 47RE 3.73 4X4. Formerly a devoted Ford man- they really let me down. I am very pleased with this truck. Its the perfect size for my family & beagle hound, has plenty of power, has every option I wanted , and nothing I didnt want. After loading up the Quad in the bed, filling up the space with firewood, and hooking up the Nash- it pulls like a dream. Aside from Ziebart rustproofing & a Stainless "Tip", this truck is staying as-is. I spend all week fixing others means of "propulsion", all I want to do to my ride is clean & drive it!!

Very happy with the Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel and it's slight modifications.
99 QC/LB SLT, auto, 4.10 w/ anti-spin & 4 wheel ABS. 4x2. White w/ leather. BD Exhaust brake, ATS TripleLoc, Valve Body & TC Controller, VA. Geno’s combo guage, boost & EGT, pyro in exhaust elbow. Dual Tranny temp. guage w/ tranny/cooler line sensor & Mag-Hytec pan sensor. Fuel pressure guage. Rhinoguard, over the rails. Reese 15k 5er hitch. Ultima 2020 brake controller. PowerVision heated mirrors. Hadley “Bully” Airhorns. Cobra CB, Brolin mount, & fender mounted aerial. 5er tailgate when RVing; factory tailgate with Leer Highrise Topper when not. The ATS transmission really makes the exhaust brake perform and the VanAcken box improves the performance to just the right level for us.
