I am unable to fine either of the two options regarding shutting down the Passenger airbag.
There are two options available for a 2010 GMC 2500HD per the Owners manual:
1. Old style with shut off Key, that suppose to be in the Glove box....guess what not there.
2. Sensor Controlled based whether there is a adult in the passenger seat, if that one exist, there should be a indication "Advanced Airbag" on the visor warning on Airbags and lights on overhead console just below the garage openner buttons, guess again not there.
Called the Dealers Service/Sales answer man at the dealership I purchased the truck from, he looked at the other model like mine in the lot and reviewed the owner manual like I did. I spoke to him late this afternoon and he will get back to me tomorrow.
Does anyone have a Crew Cab 2500HD and have this same question?
The only explaination that I got from him, is what his Sales Manager thought, with the crew cab, they do not provide for that option and want children and babies in the back seat only. Apparently these options are still available in the 2500HD extended cab.

| Generally speaking, I've only ever seen the manual shut-off option on standard cab and extended cab trucks. Never on crew cabs.

My 2002 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton had it and according to the dealer, the current 1500s still have the shut off feature. If the owner's manual is generic to 1500, 2500, and 3500, I just wish they qualify the owners manual that the shut off feature does not apply to Crew Cabs.
Thanks Tom

The manual is generic to all truck models.
2500 and up HDs have never had it to my knowledge. My 02 HD didn't have it but my brother's 03 1500 did have it.

My understanding is crew cabs don't have it and extended cabs and regular cabs do. I might be wrong with GM products but that is the way it is with Fords so I think the dealer is right.Last edited on Thu Mar 4th, 2010 03:46 by campingnut

My ext cab has the key switch in the glove box to disable the passenger air bag. There is also an indicator light located in the roof above the rearview mirror. It is lit to indicate the air bag is active.
I don't see where there would be a difference between the ext and crew cab units.
As far as the combined manuals go, there aren't that many differences between the interior features between 1/2 and 1T trucks - most of the differences are a result of the different trim levels.

When I made the post, I was waitiing for the Dealer Rep to call, he called yesterday and confirmed that 2500HD and above with Crew Cab does not have either of the two options to shut down the passenger airbag.
Thanks for all the input,
Tom
