Because of probable fire restrictions in the Coconino NF, I have decided to go to the Moqui Group Campground so we can have a fire if we want. The problem is that the Moqui campground is booked on the Father's Day weekend but is available for the July 1st and July 2nd weekend. I would like to know if we should go ahead and make reservations to include the July 4th holiday which is still open? Please respond as soon as possible. This would make it a 4 day camping trip which should be fun.

| Looking into it, was supposed to work that weekend but a swap would work out better all around for me so I ask the guy if he wanted to swap, waiting for an answer. Sarah is out of school but she likes all the activities that go on around here the fourth so she still has to decide if she wants us to go or stay home.

We will be there, I also have a 4 day weekend as well. I have never been to the Moqui campground. But it looks like a pretty cool place.

Cut and paste the above link. The campground is above Payson off of Hiway 87.

Ed: When we went last year, we took I-10 + I-17 to Camp Verde and then 260 + 87 + 65 to the Clint's Well area. We retrured via Payson and Phoenix, which was shorter. Since you are already past that miserable section of Oracle Rd, you might want to try going thru Show Low, but that doesn't look like a ver good route either. I'm guessing 87 through Payson is your best bet.
It looks like we have a quarum. Is it too early to talk about food?

Ken,
Thanks for the heads up. The shortest route for me is up thru Globe then over to Lake Roosevelt and then up to rte 87 and Payson and over to Clints's Well. Going thru Show Low would take me way out of the way and besides I would have to go thru the dreaded Salt River Canyon. I'll think it over but thru Globe looks like the best for me.
Ed

| Ed when you come up from Florence on 79, take 60 west to Ellsworth RD, North to the lake road (almost the end ) heading for Saguaro Lake and then out to the Beeline 87, it will take you to Payson . It looks to be a little shorter, once your on 87 it is almost all 4 lane, not as many narrow sharp turns with no passing areas.

Just to let everyone know I am waiting for the paperwork from the Forest Service for reservations at the Moqui Group Campground starting on Saturday, July 1 thru Tuesday, July 4.
I would like to have a theme based Supper potluck. I think it would be fun to have a Mexican theme. Let me know what you think.

El tema del mexicano suena sí grande. Traeré el gusano si alguien trae el Tequila.
Véale allí los amigos.

Finally got onto the forum. Thanks Adam!
A quick thank you to everyone at the last AZ get together. Your help and tips notched up my confidence level significantly. (Ken, I carry my own compressor now.) Felt like a pro for my five-day trip to San Diego a week ago.
Unfortunately, I will be in Oregon at a friends wedding the first of July. So, won't make this get together , but will the next one for sure.
