Arctic Fox 29 5E value

I am looking at purchasing a new 2006 Arctic Fox 29 5E 5th wheel. The options I have selected are a 3kw propane generator, thermal pane windows, a queen hide a bed option. The dealer is stating that the MSRP is around $48,000 with the options that I have chosen, and is saying that he will let it go for $43,800.

Is this a reasonable price? Please consider that I live in Alaska and the cost to have it shipped up here is roughly $3,600, so that will need to be considered into the overall price.

Please...provide your opinion on the price if you can! We are complete novices and this is our first 5th wheel and do not want to pay an unreasonable price.

Alaska,

Is the unit you are looking at a Silver Fox aluminum frame? We purchased a 05 Silver Fox 29-5E last April, and the price was a little lower than that, and weadded onthe generator, Solar, and some small odds and ends.

I don't believe the frame is the silver fox edition.....what is the difference in terms of price between the standard edition and the silver fox edition? Also, did your purchase price include the generator?

Good morning! I just found out that the 29 5-E trailer is in fact the silver fox edition.

I understand if you don't want to provide me with the purchase price that you payed for the vehicle, I am just trying to get an idea of what we should pay for the vehicle...and whether or the dealer is taking us for a ride.

Just for the sake of comparison, we bought a new 2003 29-5E in 2004. It has the wooden frame and had been sitting on the dealers lot for several months. We opted not to have a generator installed, though it is wired for one. With a few odds and ends added, plus a B&W RV Companion hitch, our price came out to about $28,000. We LOVE this model 5th wheel and still haven't seen anything we'd like better.

So, i take it this trailer was new when you purchased it?

Wow! It sounds like you got a great deal! Iwould love to get into a trailer a little older but still new (like yours) but unfortunately in Alaska i don't have that option. Also, it costs the dealer around 3,600 or so to have one brought here to AK...so I have to factor that into the price as well (groan). Have you heard of anyone mounting kayaks to the top of the 29-5E? Is this a possiblility?

Yes, it was new when we purchased it, though it had sat for several months on the dealer lot. Arctic Foxes are not that popular here in Texas (yet).

Wow! For $3,600 dollars you could come down to most any dealer in the lower 48, pull a new 29-5E back to Alaska and still come out ahead. Just make a vacation out of it. There are some dealers down here that could make you a heck of a deal. Seems like Thunder RV in Oregon is a name I've heard mentioned. In the grand scheme of things, they're not TOO far from you.

Whatever you decide, best of luck. I think you'll love the 29-5E.

It sure seems like the value is in the lower 48 that is for sure! We are kind of stuck up here in Alaska, with what we get and the price we "have to pay for one". I have thought about driving the rid up from the lower 48, but that would mean at least 10 days or so of lost work (taking time off of work), dealing with out of state paperwork..etc... and then having to drive down to pick up the trailer and tow it back. It would make for an awesome trip that's for sure....it's just hard to come up with that amount of time off of work etc.... I was thinking of flying down to the purchase location, purchasing a decent truck down there and then simply using that truck to pull the rig to Alaska. Once I got to Alaska I would sell that pickup truck, seeing that I already have a truck designated to pull the 29 5-E. That might work, and would save me roughly 2,500 miles of driving, since I would only have to drive one way. Still, coming up with all of the paperwork and information on the truck purchase etc.....might take more time than I think it will.....not sure on what to do. I think I will let our local dealer sit awhile and not call him for a bit, to hopefully spark a better deal!
